  • Build A Better Mousetrap: Rube Goldberg Machines

    July 26-30 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 2-5
    Have you ever played the game Mousetrap? That contraption is called a Rube Goldberg machine. To make the next great thing, you have to have the next great idea! Stretch your engineering and creative thinking muscles to build your own Rube Goldberg machine. A contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way.

  • Comic Book Design 3-7

    June 7-11 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 3-7
    Calling all artists, superhero lovers, or graphic novel enthusiasts. During this workshop you will be putting your storytelling skills and artistic skills (either digital or drawing) to use as you create a story for the ages. Read graphic novels and create your own throughout this weeklong workshop that explores the boundary between art and writing.

  • DIY SCI Camp

    June 14-18 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 3-6
    Make cool science projects that mom won't let you do at home! Chemistry rockets, exploding Mentos, elephant toothpaste, egg in a bottle, and smoke bomb launchers. Experiment with magnets, electricity, air pressure, eggs, and sound. Get ready to get messy and have fun!

  • Dollhouse Design

    June 28-July 2 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 1-4
    Each camper will be designing, building, and decorating their very own wooden dollhouse to take home at the end of the week. Campers will learn about blueprints, architectural planning, and spend each day customizing both the exterior and the interior of their dollhouse. We will weave carpets, create custom furniture, decorate the houses with fabric accents and more.

    Read and analyze the original literature, learn how to care for magical creatures, attend potions class, compete in quidditch matches and so much more.

    June 28-July 2 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 1-5

    Working together or individually, students will be able to easily create awesome stop motion animated movies with titles, credits, and sound effects. All supplies including LEGO's and tablets are provided, but students are welcome to bring to class their own LEGO pieces or other action figures. At the end of camp, the movies will be sent out to each students parent for in-home viewing.

  • Reading Workshop Virtual Camp

    June 28-July 2 | 10:00-11:00 AM 
    For girls and boys entering grades 3-4
    Build vocabulary and reading skills while reading The Tale of Despereaux written by Kate DiCamillo. The main plot follows the adventures of a mouse named Despereaux Tilling, as he sets out on his quest to rescue a beautiful human princess from the rats. We will read and talk about the book together, book club style.

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

    July 19-23 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 4-6
    Explore projects in sustainability through reusing and recycling to help reduce waste. Create recycled paper art and jewelry, plastic bag weavings, and bleach dyed clothing to name a few.

  • Renegades of Rhythm Summer Intensive

    July 26-30 | 8:30 AM-1:30 PM
    For students in elementary through high school
    Students will learn fundamentals of drumming as well as rudiments, proper technique. Students will also learn group beats and play as a full group while preparing for the upcoming performance season.
    All equipment is provided.

    The SMILA mission is to help ensure that all children succeed in the basic language skills of reading, writing, and spelling.

  • The Play's The Thing! Creative Writing

    June 21-25 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 3-5
    Budding Lin-Manuel Mirandas (Hamilton) will get the opportunity to co-author, perform, and direct their own 10 minute plays during this week-long introduction to playwriting workshop, focused on the theme "What's on the Horizon?" One part creative writing, one part design, and one part action; this class will be all fun!  Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes to fully engage in planned activities.

  • Theatre Camp with Marques Brown

    July 26-30 | 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
    For girls and boys entering grades 1-4
    Students will play, discover and get creative.
    Summer Theatre Workshop students in Grades 1-4 will develop theatre skills in a supportive, collaborative, and imaginative environment. Guided by Mr. Brown, a professional teaching artist, students will work together as an ensemble to explore and expand their “Actor Toolbox” – their body, voice, and imagination.  As a part of each day of the workshop, students will participate in Creative Drama & Improvisation classes, and the week long course will culminate in a short filmed showcase to share and display what they have learned, which will be made available to friends and family.
