Students will play, discover and get creative. Develop theatre skills in a supportive, collaborative, and imaginative environment. Students will work together as an ensemble to explore and expand their body, voice, and imagination. Learn the basics of theater production and what goes into creating a performance. This class will culminate in a parent observation. Space is limited.

Ballet 2
For girls in grade 2

instructor: Louisa Koeppel (Hutchison dance teacher and Director of Hutchison Creative Ballet Center) and Katy Stanfield (dancer and dance instructor)
cost: $400
Ballet 2 reinforce and expand the ballet experience through classical technique, creativity, and dance-making. Plain pink or black leotard with or without a skirt, pink or skin-toned ballet tights or black leggings, and pink or skin-toned ballet shoes are required.
Ballet students will perform in the dance concert on Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30 pm.

Bee Sharp: Lower School Choir
For Hutchison girls in grades 2–4

cost: $50
Enhance your vocal skills and perform at various school and community events. Music Concert dates are mandatory performances and are scheduled on December 2, 2021 at 5:30 pm and April 21, 2022 at 5:30 pm. Rehearsals for the December 2 concert will be held November 30, December 1, and December 2 after school. Rehearsals for the April 21 concert will be held April 19, 20, and 21 after school.

Beginning Guitar
For Hutchison girls in grades 2-4
School-year length course

cost: $375
Limited space. This class is an introduction to guitar for beginning students. Students need a ¾ size, nylon-stringed classical guitar, and a case. Nylon strings are required.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Spend time outside learning the basics of vegetables, fruit, and flower gardening. What zone do we live in? Where should we plant? How much do we water? Paint and plant a flower pot, make garden markers, build a recycled garden on our new and improved farm and greenhouse, and taste some of the yummy fruits of our labor in this action-packed class.

Hutchison offers an intramural program for Hutchison girls in basketball (K-4), soccer (K-3), lacrosse (3-4) and volleyball (1-3) to provide our girls with opportunities to explore athletics. The main goal of our intramural league is to promote growth and enhance skill development. Because of our commitment to foster growth throughout the program, girls are invited to participate regardless of skill level or experience.

Private Music Lessons
For girls and boys
All levels and ages are welcome. Homeschooled and adult students may take lessons on campus during the school day. Private lessons for 30 or 45 minutes in one or more instruments offered.
An email will go out to everyone once school starts with more information, as well as, dates and times available for lessons.

Girls will engage in the coding basics with online and "unplugged" non-computer activities which teach computational thinking, problem solving, and programming concepts. Build simple machines and robotic animals while you learn to attach sensors and motors so the robots can react to their environment. 3-D print your creations in our innovation lab.

Step 1: Simple Machines
Throughout the year, we will explore the world of engineering and design! Here, we will dive into the concept of simple machines, and move towards more complex builds, while understanding the purpose, function, and design components of engineering.

Involve yourself in martial arts to learn discipline and skills that will help you in school and beyond. In the final class, students will test for stripes and belts. No uniform is required; however, you may wear your own uniform or purchase one through Midtown Taekwondo.

Yoga

There is no time like now to introduce your child to yoga. Through individual poses, games, chants, and songs, yoga gets your child interested in both physical and mental fitness. Beginning a yoga practice at this age could set the tone for a more balanced, grounded, and stress-free future.
